Fort Barrancas, Kurt's View

Due to high demands, but low energy, I've decided to break Kurt's post into two. The following are his photos from our trip to Fort Barrancas. I will edit the ones from the Aviation museum tomorrow. Cheers everyone!

Fort Barrancas & the National Museum of Naval Aviation

Yesterday, my husband decided to surprise us all and take us out on an exhibition. We started at Golden Corral, where we all had no less then three plates, attacked the chocolate fountain, and shared the biggest thing of cotton candy I've seen in a long time. It was really great, but he still had more up his sleeve. Next up was Fort Barrancas.

When you looked through the one locked door, this what was looking back at you. Oh, that's not creepy at all!

I'm just going to go ahead and say that this place hasn't been cleaned in a long time.

Yes, that is a real live sleeping bat. I wanted to touch him, but I was also against waking him up. Jacob thought he was "Bat-man."

The view to the right of the fort.

 Straight ahead.

 View to the left.

Then it was onto the National Museum of Naval Aviation! We didn't have time to see all the exhibits, but we knocked out a good chunk and saw some things I hadn't seen on my last visit.

The boys loved pretending that they were pilots in these seats that are randomly around the whole museum.

 The new air balloon exhibit.

Jacob is absolutely fascinated with outer space.

The 1940s exhibit:

Jacob also found the library, and the lady in charge was the sweetest.

She asked if they could play on the .50 cal. Of course, we said yes. I looked at my husband while they were taking turns "shooting" the planes and said, "Most people take their kids to the playground. We take ours to the museum where they pretend they have gone back in time, became sailors, and blow up stuff." haha

The library lady and her husband. I hope my husband and I are still best friends when we are their age.

The entire time, the boys kept asking when they could go and fly the Blue Angel planes.
